Born in Turin, Giuseppe "Beppe" Porcheddu started as a painter in the 1920s, then became an illustrator for magazines and books in the 1930s, before drawing comics in the 1940s. His illustrations appeared in magazines like Numero, Cuor d'Oro, L'Illustrazione del Popola and Scena Illustrata. In 1941 he drew the comic 'Il Tabù Violato' for Albi Junventus, followed in 1942 by 'L'invincible Spada' for Il Balilla. He furthermore illustrated schoolbooks and novels by Emilio Salgari. |

In 1941 he also began a collaboration with Topolino, where he illustrated tales as well as 'Il Castello di San Velario' and 'Il Mistero degli Specchi Velati'. His story 'I Viaggi di Gulliver' was cancelled when Topolino ceased publication in the period 1943-45. |

After the War he joined the Group of Venice, featuring among others Hugo Pratt, Giorgio Bellavitis, Mario Faustinelli, Leone Frollo, Sergio Asteriti and Dino Battaglia, that launched the magazine Asso di Picche. He died shortly afterwards, in Rome in 1947. |
