The French-Canadian artist Eddy Prévost was a restaurant owner, as well as a comic artist. He opened his gourmet restaurant L'Auberge des Deux-Lanternes on Île Jésus (now Laval) in 1930. He was also the author of the comic strip about 'Ti-Pit le Chétif'. It appeared in the Montréal weekly Le Petit Journal from 1931 to 1933 and from 1936 to 1948.

In 1933, he took over editorship of the cultural magazine Le Passe Temps (1895-1949) from Montréal after the death of its founder. In 1954, he became head of the Provincial Association of Caterers in Québec. At his retirement in 1975, he chose to return to his drawing activities and became graphic art letterer for illumination manuscripts, diplomas, parchments and genealogical documents. He died in 1985.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
