Sof' boy, by Archer Prewitt

Archer Prewitt leads a double life, working both as a cartoonist and as a musician. Prewitt was raised in Frankfort, Kentucky in 1963. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute in Missouri where he graduated with a printmaking degree in 1985. He started doing freelance illustration for the Kansas City Star, while also playing in a number of bands. With other members of the band The Coctails, he moved to Chicago in 1990, where they started their own Hi-Ball Label.

In 1992, Prewitt started drawing and self-publishing 'Sof' Boy' mini-comics, while also working as a colorist for Marvel. These 'Sof' Boy' books were also published in Kitchen Sink and Fantagraphics Books. Another Prewitt character is 'Funny Bunny', which made several appearances in diverse publications. When The Coctails disbanded, Prewitt released solo albums on Carrot Top Records and Thrill Jockey. He is also a member of The Sea and Cake band.

Series and books by Archer Prewitt in stock in the Lambiek Webshop:

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
