The self-taught artist Marcello Quintanilha began his career at several publishers in São Paul and Rio, using the pseudonym Marcello Gaù, from 1988. Two years later, he began a career in the animation and advertising fields. He then became an illustrator for the press, cooperating on several Brazilian political and cultural magazines and newspapers.

His work also appeared in the American Heavy Metal magazine, as well as several book and cd covers. Settled in Spain, he began his comics series 'Sept Balles pour Oxford' with scripts by Montecarlo and Jorge Zentner in 2003.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
