Barbara Rausch had an artistic education in Michigan State. She was a writer of short stories since the early 1980s, and worked as a magazine artist and writer for In Touch. After a contribution to Archie Publications ('Katy Keene'), she worked on a couple of alternative publications in the mid-1980s. The protégé of Bill Woggon, she illustrated 'Neil the Horse' and 'Vicki Valentine' for Renegade Press and inked 'Cutey Bunny' in Army Surplus Komikz. She was also a contributor to Wimmen's Comix (Renegade) and Strip Aids USA (Last Gasp).

In the mainstream field, she illustrated 'Barbie' coloring books, and drew 'California Girls' for Eclipse Enterprises. In the 1990s, he worked on 'Barbie' comics for Marvel, as well as cover illustrations for Walt Disney's Beauty and the Beast. In addition, she worked on 'The Desert Peach' for MU Press and 'Omaha the Cat Dancer' for Kitchen Sink. She also worked in the Howard Chaykin studio and was a storyboard editor on the 'Jem' animation show.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
