Martijn Reeser was born in The Hague, where he also graduated in Graphic and Typographic Design from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in 1971. He is an independent graphic designer, illustrator, photographer and writer, who works mostly for humanitarian projects. He was associated with the educational children's magazine SamSam as a writer, comic artist and photographer for 25 years. He has also done many designs, reports and photographs for Unicef and Cebemo.
Reeser worked with writer Hans Auer on the Third World-themed comic book 'Neef IJsco en het geheim van de dorstvogel' for the publishing house Ploegsma in 1977. He was an art teacher with the Royal Academy of Fine Arts for many years. Since he retired from this job, he has been active developing software for educational purposes together with his wife Annelies Heldoorn.
