Berry by Reinhold Reitberger

Reinhold Reitberger is a German comic artist and scholar. He did American Studies and Communication Studios and was one of the first in Germany to seriously study the comics medium. He is co-author of the standard books of reference 'Comics. Anatomie eines Massenmediums' (1971) and 'Comics-Handbuch' (1978) together with Wolfgang J. Fuchs. Reitberger gained fame with his Disney biography 'Walt Disney in Selbstzeugnissen und Bilddokumenten' in 1979.

Besides an expert on the medium, Reitberg is a comic artist himself. Between 1985 and 1990, Reitberger and Fuchs made 'Berry der Plantagenbär', a promotional comic for Kaba, that came with the company's instant cocoa drinks. He also made 'Wally und die Comics' for Comicradioshow.com. Since 1986 he is an author of children's books and he is best known for his joke books. Reinhold Reitberger has also worked as a translator for Disney comics.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
