Mr Tweedy (9/4/1966)
Ned Riddle was a Dallas cartoonist. During World War II he served in the Navy aboard the submarine USS Piranha. During his service, he drew caricatures for the weekly newsletters. Back in civil life, he graduated from Washington University in St. Louis and took on watercolor painting.
In the 1950s he was hired by the Dallas Morning News as a commercial artist. He also began cartooning, creating the syndicated cartoon 'Mr. Tweedy'. The 'Mr. Tweedy' cartoons, that also used sequential panels on occasion, appeared in newspapers throughout the United States, Canada, Australia and South America for 34 years.
