Tandori, by Curd Ridel

Curd Ridel was born in Africa, but settled in Paris in 1979. He presented his first comics in Les Vacheries de Corinne & Jeannot and Footy. In 1983, he created 'Tahoré, le petit Tahitien' with text by Pierre-Yves Gabrion in Fripounet. He worked for the magazine Pif for a while, where he drew several episodes of the title comic, as well as the series 'Radio Kids' with text by Jacques Lelièvre.

During the nineties, he worked on several titles, such as 'Tandori' (with Scotch Arleston, 1992), 'Rigoletto Loustic' (with Téhy, 1995) and 'Angèle et René' (1997). He also took over 'Le Gowap' from Midam in Hello Bédé (text by Mythic).

He has also done short stories and illustrations in Spirou, Le Journal de Mickey, Bambi, Chut! and Rik et Rok, the free magazine of the Auchan department stores. Ridel has furthermore designed several "Malabarbouilles", labels for the chewing-gum brand Malabar. As a writer, he started 'Django Renard' with artist Dav at Bamboo and 'Tuff et Koala' with Philippe Fenech at Soleil.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
