Comic art by Walter Riess

Walter Riess was born in Lugoj, Transylvania. A graduate in architecture, he made his debut in comics in 1972 following a contest held by Cutezătorii magazine. While working as an architect, he has published many comics after the fall of the communist regime in 1989. He was a regular contributor to the science-fiction magazine Anticipatia, but also to Dimineaţa Copiilor, Strip-Top, Orion, Abracadabra and Argonaut. Riess has additionally illustrated hundreds of book covers and he designed a series of stamps for the Romanian postal services based on Jules Verne books in 2005.
