El Suero Maravilloso, by José Robledano

José Robledano was one of the most important Spanish comic artists of early 20th century, along with Salvador Bartolozzi, K-Hito and Miguel Mihura. He drew for several juvenile magazines since the 1910s, like Infancia. Robledano drew 'El Suero Maravilloso' in 1910 for this magazine. This is considered the first modern Spanish comic strip, with its continuing storyline and usage of text balloons. In the 1930s he worked for Chiquilín, for which he drew the adventures of the title character. A republican, he drew for several magazines after the Civil War, like Alegría, Nuevo Mundo, Mundo Gráfico, Blanco y Negro, Buen Humor, El Imparcial, El Liberal, La Lidia and Claridad.
