Jan F. Rodrigo is a Dutch painter and illustrator. Born in Utrecht, he was educated at the Art Academies of The Hague and Utrecht. Shortly after World War 2, he was affiliated with the Utrecht press agency Ramad Press. He was the artist of the comic strip 'Leo & Lorre helpen ridder Radbout', that was written by Thomas de Vlieger and published in Utrechts Nieuwsblad from 2 March 1946 until 22 August 1946. It was the first comic strip to appear in the local Utrecht newspaper after World War 2. A black and white book collection was published by Ramad Press in 1948.

As a painter, he has made various works inspired by his travels to France, Italy, Greece, Egypt, Morocco and Egypt. He has also made many portraits from sportsmen, city views and landscapes. For many years, he was co-initiator of the annual Utrecht art fair. He also made many drawings for Utrecht for Groot Utrecht magazine.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
