Croconautas

Born in Oviedo, Javier Rodríguez self-published his first book, 'Love Gun', in 1996. A couple of years later he made a second comic for Editorial Undercomic in cooperation with Vna Ígor Medio. He began his professional career contributing to El Víbora. Besides several short stoires and cover illustrations, he created series like 'Paraíso Punk Rock Bar' (also published in album by Kappa Entrialgo), 'Tenebro' and 'Comprobando la Realidad' (script by Mauro Entrialgo). For Glénat, he made the comic albums 'Wake Up' and 'Miedo' with the scriptwriters David Muñoz and Antonio Trashorras.

He was a contributor to magazine Mister K from the beginning to the end with the series 'Croconautas'. Rodríguez is a colorist for DC Comics and Marvel, and the co-author of the comic series 'Lolita HR' with Delphine Rieu for Les Humanoïdes Associés. He also worked on film productions and advertisements for companies like Lola Films, Canal Plus and Mediapro. In addition, he provided illustrations for music groups like Manta Ray, Australian Blonde and Felpeyu.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
