Bobby Rubio was born and raised in San Diego, California, and has been drawing since he was a child. While attending Morse High School, Bobby won a cartoon contest with the San Diego Union newspaper. For college, Bobby attended the California Institute of the Arts. While in college, he freelanced as a comic book artist for Dark Horse Comics ('Godzilla'). After earning his Bachelor's Degree in Fine Arts, Bobby entered an internship with Jim Lee at Homage Studios (Image Comics.) After completing his internship, he entered an animation internship with Walt Disney Feature Animation in Orlando, Florida. He was then hired to work for Walt Disney Feature Animation in Burbank, California, where, in the course of 9 years, he completed several films as a traditional animator and as a storyboard artist. Rubio is an assistant director/storyboard artist for Nickelodeon on the series 'Avatar'. In addition, he self-publishes his creator-owned comic book 'Alcatraz High'.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
