Fabien Rypert started out as a technician, but soon he was drawn more to the graphic arts. He quit his technical studies and became an inker on 'Astérix' by Uderzo and on several Disney characters. In 1988 he became a freelancer and created the character of 'Boogy', which later developed into the children's comic 'Boogy and Rana'. The first album of this series was published in 1996, with a preface by André Franquin. Writer Brice Tarvel and Fabien Rypert received an award for their album in Angoulême in 1997. Apart from this series, Fabien Rypert does a lot of work on postcards, games and posters, and also drew the comic 'Chirac dans tous ses États', a parody about president Chirac.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
