Nestor Salas Ampuero is an illustrator born in Santiago. He moved to Spain in 1974. During this period he did illustrations and exhibitions. He published his drawings in several magazines including a few comics which he did for Tótem. He studied Graphic Arts and Cinema and is settled in Paris, France. He has illustrated several children's books and provides illustrations for economical, political, educational and women's magazines (Question Femmes, Entreprise & Carrières, Marianne, L'Impatient, Lexpansion, etc.). With Gala Martinoia he is the author of the 1984 comic book 'La BD de l'abc'. He is also the author of the illustrated book 'Brouillon, le Marchand de Rêves' (Petits Points, 1992).

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
