Billy the Kid, by Warren Sattler (1980)

Warren Sattler got his education at the Wilcox Technical School in Meriden, Connecticut and was a teacher at the Famous Artists School between 1957 and 1962. In the early 1960s, he assisted on the 'Barnaby' daily, and later also on 'The Jackson Twins'. He also created his own feature, 'Grubby', which ran from 1964 to 1997 through the Al Smith Service. In 1980, he created another syndicated comic, the 'Swamp Brats' Sunday page. During the 1980s and 1990s, he ghosted on such newspaper strips as 'Bringing Up Father', 'Comics for Kids' and 'Gil Thorp'.

In addition to his work for the newspapers, Sattler also worked for comic books, especially by Charlton Comics. He contributed to many of their 1970s horror, war and western titles, like 'Billy the Kid', 'Fightin' Army', 'Fightin' Marines', 'Ghost Manor', 'Ghostly Haunts' and 'Yang'. He also did occasional work for DC, Major Magazines ('Cracked') and Marvel. He has additionally worked for magazines like National Lampoon and Playboy.
