Donald Duck, by Scalabroni Ceballos

Born in La Cumbre, Santiago Scalabroni Ceballos studied art at the Instituto de Arte in Bueno Aires. He made his debut in the children's magazines of the publishing house Garcia Ferre in 1971. He moved to Spain in 1974, where he lived for fourteen years, and where he cooperated with the publishing house Bruguera. In 1977, he began a collaboration with the Danish publishing house Egmont. There, he produced comics at an international level, working with companies in Germany, Mexico and the USA. He drew numerous comics with Disney characters for Anders And & Co. Magazine. He mainly did stories with the Ducks, most of the time scripted by Jim Kenner or Tom Anderson. In 1976 and 1977, he also studied modelling and painting in Barcelona. In the 1980s, he moved to Paris, where he focused on iconography. After having lived in Spain, Greece, France and Argentina he has settled down in the village of Andratx, Mallorca, Spain since 2003, where he spent most of his time painting.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
