Shang Xiao is a Chinese illustrator and film maker, as well as a comic book artist for the French market. He studied graphic arts at a local art school and started making animated films in 1997. His production 'Midsummer Park' was turned into a successful videogame in 1998. He has furthermore made drawings for many Chinese papers and magazines. He is active as a comic book artist for Europese publishers. He has participated in the collective comics project 'Les Chroniques de Sillage' (Delcourt, 2008), and is the artist of the series 'S.A.M.', that is written by Richard Marazano for Dargaud since 2011.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
