A fan of comics since his youth, Fred Simon started a fanzine while still at college. Afterwards, he strudied Plastic Arts in Rennes and launched the Studio Psurde with some friends. At this studio, he did several jobs, such as illustrating postcards and cooperating on the collective comic album 'Si Septennat m'était Conté, that appeared at Vents d'Ouest. He then moved to Rennes, where he met Lucien Rollin. Rollin helped him getting his stories published in Circus magazine. He was also introduced to David Chauvel, with whom he started a cooperation. After several projects, they took on the 'Rails' series, which lasted for four episodes. Chauvel and Simon continued their collaboration with the 'Le Poisson-Clown' series.
