Born in Sheffield, South Yorkshire in 1970, Greg Staples studied to become an architect. However, he broke off his studies after three years to pursue his passion, illustration. He became part of the art team for 2000 AD in 1990, where he started out working on the 'Judge Dredd' comic.
He has subsequently contributed to serials like 'Sláine' (with Pat Mills), 'The Clown' (with Igor Goldkind) and 'Sinister Dexter' (with Dan Abnett). Later comic book work include 'JLA: Riddle of the Beast' (Elseworlds DC Comics, 2001) and 'Swallow' (IDW, 2007).
Worms of the Earth
Since 1998 his atmospheric yet direct painting style has also been used on 'Magic: The Gathering' cards. Staples has additionally created concept artwork for award-winning music videos, computer games and movies.
