Nick Raider, by Iginio Straffi

Iginio Straffi is a successful designer, director and producer of animation series, and the founder of the Rainbow studios. He is the creator of the popular 'Winx Club' series, which is broadcasted worldwide. Among his other hit series are 'Tommy & Oscar' (created as an interactive CD-Rom and then as a TV series), 'Prezzy' (a TV series inspired by the Gardaland theme park mascot) and 'Monster Allergy' (based on the Disney comic books).

Straffi began his career working for comic studios and publising houses. During his university years, he made comics for the prestigious review Comic Art. At the age of 19, he was hired by Bonelli Editore in Milan, where he has worked on the 'Nick Raider' comic book series. At age 27, he moved to France and worked as a storyboard artist. Rainbow S.R.L. was founded in March, 1995.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
