Rui Tenreiro was born and raised in Mozambique, and he eventually moved to Oslo, Norway. He works mainly as an illustrator, but also as comic book artist and independent publisher (Soyfriends). He has published his book 'Partie de Campagne' through his own company Soyfriends, but also 'Trost' through Jippi Comics and 'Le Merle' through La Pasteque.
Tenreiro has contributed to magazines like Dazed & Confused, Amelia's Magazine, Hot Rod Magazine, Adbusters Norway and Snitt. His commercial clients include Virgin Atlantic, Graniph, Levi's, Mercedes Benz, Coca-Cola Light, Fanta, Pepsi Max, Cell C, MTN Cellphones and McDonald's. In 2006 he made about 20 illustrations for Tine Milk packs in Norway explaining the history of milk packaging and distribution.
