Alfio Ticci was born in Montereggioni, Siena, in 1944, and is the younger brother of 'Tex Willer' artist Giovanni Ticci. He has worked for the French pocket books of Editions Lug, Cepim publishers (the predecessor of Bonelli) and the Giolitti Studios. In the late 1970s, he cooperated with his brother on 'Tex Willer' in Collana Rodeo. He also made 'L'Esploratore Scomparso' ('Retrouvez Livingstone') with Decio Canzio for Collana Rodeo and in the collection Les Indomptables for Mon Journal. Also for Mon Journal, he illustrated several episodes of 'Joselito' in the eponymous comic book from 1979. In 1998, he illustrated Gianni Brunoro's 'Penna, Pennini e Pennarelli for Un Eroe per Amico.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
