Comic from de Vrije Balloen by Bert Tier

Bert Tier is a Dutch cartoonist and illustrator from Amsterdam who works mostly through publicity agencies. He began his comics career in the late 1970s through the alternative comics magazine De Vrije Balloen and the publications of Espee, Ger van Wulften's publishing firm. Among his recurring characters were 'Jan Kneuterman', 'De Janssens' and 'Jut en Jul in de Jungle'. He also had comic strips in Aktueel and Panorama.

Since then, Tier has done marketing campaigns for Coca Cola, Aegon insurances, the Dutch government, Filofax and Hästens, among others. He was also behind the so-called "flippo" discs that came with Smith's potatochips in the 1990s. He still makes the occasional comic strip for corporate and commercial purposes.

Series and books by Bert Tier in stock in the Lambiek Webshop:

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
