Comic strip by Virgil Tomulet

Born in Cluj, Virgil Tomuleţ made his debut in 1959, when he published comic strips in the local magazine Napsugar. He subsequently published comics in children's magazines from the Bucharest area, such as Jobarat, Luminiţa, Arici Pogonici, Cutezătorii and Şoimii Patriei. His career got another boost in 1989, when he started making comics in cooperation with his son Sabin Tomulet. These were published in such magazines and papers as Panoramic Radio TV, Mini Azi, Strip Top, Revista Copiilor and the Cluj edition of Adevărul.

Tomulet has also made illustrations for a variety of children's books. A compilation of his many caricatures of cultural, political, artistic and sports celebrities was published in 1999. Together with Dodo Nita, he told the moving history of the Golden Age of Romanian Comics in 2004. He also provided caricatures of over 100 Romanian comic artists that were featured in Nita's Dictionnary of Romanian Comics.
