Pierre Tranchard, who often signs with Pica, made his debut in the "Carte Blanche" section of the magazine Spirou in 1974. Two years later, he drew 'Dorothée' and 'L'Agence Duplumeau contre Salvador Picassax' in Pistil. He became a regular artist for the press agency Fleurus. He illustrated strips with 'Diogène', as well as several short stories in Triolo and Djin. He began a longtime collaboration with François Corteggiani in 1979, with whom he began 'Chafouin et Baluchon' in Djin.

A year later, Pica and Corteggiani began 'Bastos et Zakousky' in Djin. This series was later continued in Circus, Gomme and Triolo. In Pif Gadget, they created 'Marine' in 1978, a comic that also appeared in Le Journal de Mickey and Hello Bédé. Also for Pif, they came up with the humorous western 'Smith et Weston'. In 1987, they began 'L'École Abracadabra' in Le Journal de Mickey. Tranchand teamed up with writer Gilbert Bouchard in the 1990s. They began 'Poules à Lier' in Spirou, as well as the series 'Crocro et Fastefoude'. with text by Erroc, he launched 'Les Profs' at Bamboo publishers in 2000.
