Herman, by Jim Unger

Jim Unger was born in London, England, and emigrated to Canada after serving in the British Army and working as an insurance clerk and repo man. He started his career in cartooning in the Mississauga Times newspaper in Ontario, Canada. He created his famous 'Herman' comic strip in 1974 and it was an immediate success.

For the next eighteen years, Herman has continued to amuse readers daily with his witty comments on the state of the world. Unger moved to the Bahamas in 1984 and retired from cartooning in 1992. He returned with 'Herman' in 1997, by now distributed by Universal Press Syndication. He spent his last years in Saanich, British Columbia after a period of ill health.
