Dorothy Urfer was the original artist of the 'Annibelle' comic strip. She began the feature as a single panel cartoon in NEA's Everyweek magazine section. It was moved to the colored comic section in 1935, where Urfer illustrated it until the following year. The strip was continued by Virginia Krausmann until 1939.
Urfer was also an illustrator of covers and text stories for magazines and papers like The Times Picayune, Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune, Lima Sunday News and The Sunday Oregonian.
