C.O.N.U., by Guillermo Varas

Guillermo Varas was a contributor to the Chilean comic books published by Editorial Zig Zag and Quimantú in the 1960s and 1970s. For the war magazine Guerra, he illustrated stories of 'Corresponsales de Guerra' and alternated with Julio Berríos on the series 'C.O.N.U.' (scripts by Juan Bley Monroy). He was also present in Delito with episodes of the series 'Suspenso', written by Ventura Marín, and in Jungla with 'Mawa'. He was one of the early cover illustrators of the 'El Siniestro Dr Mortis' comic, and contributed to Asteroide in the 1980s. In later years, he began to work for foreign publishers.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.

If you want to help us continue and improve our ever- expanding database, we would appreciate your donation through Paypal.
