Jaap Vegter is a comic artist with a social critical style. His career took off in 1967, when he started drawing small comics for the magazine Sextant. Later he got the opportunity to make some larger comics for the same magazine, such as the story 'Jeroen', which was published in album in 1980. Some of these comics are also published in the album 'Niet Doen, Kleine Man', which was released by NVSH. From 1974 to 1977 Vegter also drew for De Tijd. In 1977 he began his tenure at Vrij Nederland, where he did a weekly strip criticizing the way of life in the modern world, until his death in January 2003.
