Jacques Verbeek was a Dutch filmmaker, born in Steenbergen. He studied at the Academy of Industrial Design in Eindhoven from 1966 and later attended the Free Academy in The Hague, where he made his first animation films as a pupil of Frans Zwartjes. He was active as a comic artist in the early 1970s. He published 'De Zippers' in Joost Swarte's Modern Papier and then 'Alfred' in Evert Geradts' Tante Leny Presenteert in 1972.

He worked as a filmmaker with Karin Wiertz during the 1970s and 1980s, and the duo slowly evolved from live action to animation. Their films include 'Keep on Turning' (1972), 'Reversals' (1972), Slippery Slope (1972), Time Takes a Cigarette (1973), 'Between the Lights' (1975), 'T.H.-film' (1976), 'Easy Action Animated' (1978), 'The Case of the Spiral Staircase' (1981) and 'There is a Garden in my Head' (1987). He was a teacher with the Academy of Fine Arts in Maastricht. He passed away in early 1993.
