Bram Vermeulen, mainly known as a brilliant song- and textwriter, was born in The Hague, The Netherlands in 1946. He studied psychology in Amsterdam and performed as a comedian together with Freek de Jonge in the music and comedy show 'Neerlands Hoop in Bange Dagen'. He became an all-round stage-artist, performing, directing, writing and singing, but he also painted and made comics in the early 1970s. He drew a strip for magazine Plug, and made the comic 'Jan Lul en de Flauwe Cultuur', a promotional comic for Culture for Youngsters in The Netherlands. This comic was banned in the Roman Catholic South of Holland because of its use of swearwords.
