De Mysterieuze Meester Booman (Coyote Kollaazje, 1985)

Luc Verschuuren is known in Brabant for his comics and cartoons with the character 'Kees Kruik', that appeared in papers like Brabants Dagblad, Tilburg Plus, Het Nieuwsblad van het Zuiden, Het Nieuwsblad en het Brabants Dagblad between 1983 and 2002. As a commercial artist, Verschuuren has illustrated a couple of comic albums that are situated in the Brabant cities Tilburg, Roosendaal and Breda for the collection 'Jules en Ollie Stedenstrips'. In the 1980s he has also contributed to Coyote magazine.

Verschuuren has done illustrations for amusement parcs like De Efteling and Het Land Van Ooit, and done commission comic books like 'De Ring van Roxanna' (for the Tilburg water company) and 'De Erfenis van Siska' (for Kinderssiska in Knokke). In 2005 he started a monthly comic called 'Floor van Kantoor' for Boleka in The Hague. In 2010 he illustrated 'De Jacht op de Gouden Leeuw' for the ING bank. Since 1997, he is also a painter working in a pop-art style.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
