Jezus Messias (1993)

Willem de Vink is a writer and illustrator of religious books, as well as a creator of television shows and a pastor. Born in Utrecht, he became affiliated with the Jong en Vrij movement, and attended the Bible school of this organization. He also contributed to the Jong en Vrij monthly, drawing comics like 'Japie Jubel', 'De Pelgrimsreis', 'Jafeth' and 'Uilskuikens'.

De Vink wrote and drew the biblical comic 'Jezus Messias' for the publishing house Proclama in 1993. The book has been translated in over 40 languages. He has also contributed illustrations and comics to Aktie, De Goede Herder, Opwekking, De Strijdkreet, Herstel, Het Zoeklicht, Uitdaging, Ronduit Magazine and Zeggus.

As a journalist and illustrator, De Vink has worked for Algemeen Dagblad and the unions CNV and FNV. He is the author of religious books for children, like 'Op Weg naar Goud', and he also made his autobiography, called 'Getekend'. He is a member of the Pentecostal movement, and is one of the founders of the youth movement Heavenly Quality.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
