Meneer Slim by Jaap de Vries
Meneer Slim (Okki #20, 20-6-2008)

Born in Kollum, Jaap de Vries attended the Kampen Art School. He is a writer and illustrator for children's books and magazines. He has worked for the children's magazine Mik-Mak and made illustrations and comics for several Frisian publishers and the children's page of NRC Handelsblad. His first book was 'De Koning en de Koningin' (1995), based on a comic strip he made for Mik-Mak. With writer Isabel Versteeg, he has made the comic 'Meneer Slim' for Okki. He has also illustrated books by Henk Hokke, Dolf Verroen and Koos Meinderts.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
