Barry en Bep by Wanz

Matthijs Wansink is a Harlem-based Dutch illustrator and comic artist who works under the name Wanz. He graduated from the Maastricht Art Academy and started out making underground comix. He got his own spot in newspaper AD in 1997 called 'Ventje'. This was followed by 'Jos' for Autoweek and 'Barry en Bep' for Fiets Magazine, both published by Sanoma Media.

He makes comics, cartoons and illustrations for several magazines, papers and books and is also specialized in designing websites, infotgraphics, housestyles, logos and Powerpoint presentations for UWV. In 2010 he illustrated his first children's book, 'Guus leert vliegen'. He runs a webdesign company called Oncemedia together with his brother.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
