In 1984, Nikoline Werdelin's daily strip 'Café' won the Politiken's comics competition. Although she had never read comics or even been in a café, the series successfully commented upon and satirized everyday banalities and national politics. The series was discontinued in 1988. From 1986 on, Werdelin also produced 'Rose' for the magazine Alt for Damerne (Everything for Women), followed three years later by 'Laura og Nugga'. In 1994, she returned to the pages of Politiken with another satirical daily strip, 'Homo Metropolis'.
