Aladdin en de Tooverfluit
Jan Wiegman was born in Zwolle, and was a pupil of Tjeerd Bottema. He was a regular artist for the Katholieke Illustratie during at least the late 1910s, drawing cartoons, jokes and occasional comic pages, inspired by his French contemporaries. Wiegman drew the newspaper comic 'Snoes' (texts by W. van de Berg) in 1928.

Another comic by Wiegman was 'Aladdin en de Tooverfluit'. During the forties he made 'Heintje Biet', which appeared in De Fontein. Wiegman also created many illustrations for newspapers and children's books. He has worked for over sixty publishers, including Meulenhoff. He also illustrated a number of commercial books. Well-known for his silhouette drawings, he also wrote and illustrated for shadow plays, among others for De Waagspelers in Haarlem (around 1938).
