Sir Nigel Tawny

Harry Winslade was born Harry Redvers A. Winslade in Farnham, Surrey. His career in comics began in 1950, when he started drawing for Eagle. In 1951 and 1952 he drew the 'Judy and Pat' comic in Girl. Later in the decade he was present in Zip with the 'The Brainy B' strip and in Express Weekly with 'Battle Brothers'. He additionally drew for Mickey Mouse Weekly ('Don Conquest') and the Thriller Picture Library. Between 1958 and 1962 he illustrated the adventures of explorer 'Sir Nigel Tawny' in Zip and later in Swift, using the name Redvers Blake.

In the 1960s Winslade illustrated the 'Danger Man' text stories in Express Weekly, as well as features for Boys' World and Valiant. He is best known for his many contributions to The Hornet, including dozens of strips and covers. He also drew for Diana and Wizard in the 1960s and 1970s.
