Enrico Novelli, also known as Yambo, was the son of the actor Ermete Novelli. He made his debut in journalism at a very young age. He distinguished himself from his contemporaries by creating sarcastic stories. He was one of the founders of the periodical Il Travaso and the chief of the journal La Nazione. His stories for children were similar to Jules Verne's tales, but Yambo took a more fantastic approach than Verne's science-fiction style. He left the comic field in the 1930s and began adapting novels to adventure stories for magazines like Toplonino, L'Avventuroso, I Tre Porcellini and Il Giornale di Cino e Franco.
