Marmalade Boy, by Wataru Yoshizumi

Wataru Yoshizumi is a mangaka who debuted with 'Radical Romance' in Ribon Original in 1984. A graduate in economics from Hitotsubashi University, Mari Nakai (which is her real name) worked as an office lady during the first years of her manga career. Her first serial for Ribon was 'Handsome na Kanojo', which gained her popularity in Japan. Her most famous serial, however, is 'Marmalade Boy', which also knew international success. Other popular mangas by Yoshizumi are 'Kimi Shika Iranai' and 'Minto na Bokura'. In 2000, she created a 3-volume short story called 'Random Walk', which was followed in 2001 by 'Ultra Maniac', a manga serial that was also made into an anime series.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
