Swah?, by Johan van Zanten

Johan van Zanten studied at the Technical University in Eindhoven. After graduation, he worked as an architect for a year, before he decided to devote himself to drawing comics and illustrations. He founded his own studio, Studio Noord, in 2002. He works as a freelance illustrator and created the comic strip 'Swah?', which was published in newspaper Noordhollands Dagblad and Dagblad van het Noorden from 2001.

Lucky 13 by Johan van Zanten

Van Zanten expanded his studio and began associations with Olivier Heiligers and some freelance artists. Studio Noord produces a comic called 'Lucky 13' for a European safety campaign for the motor industry, as well as a monthly comic for MAxxx, the house organ of the Amsterdam city council.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over 12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
