Born in Belgrade, Zdravko Zupan published his first comics in the Belgrade newspaper Mali Jez. In 1967 he became a regular contributor to Decje novine. Zupan's best known serials are 'Zuzuko' and 'Munja'. From 1983 to 1988 he worked with scenarist Lazar Odanovic on licensed 'Tom and Jerry' comics ('Tom i Dzeri') for Vjesnik in Zagreb. He then illustrated several 'Mickey Mouse' scripts by François Corteggiani for Le Journal de Mickey in France. He is founder of the fanzine Cepelin and an expert in the history of Yugoslav comics. He has written articles for Comic Art, organized expositions and is author of several books about the subject.

Since 1999, Lambiek presents the Comiclopedia as a free service to comic fans from all over the world. The database has expanded to over
12,000 biographies of international comic artists, and also has an extensive Dutch section about comics in the Netherlands.
For 15 years, the site was funded from the resources of our Amsterdam-based shop. However, the current economical circumstances make it difficult for us to maintain this service. At the moment the Comiclopedia's sole editor works for us free of charge, aided by a couple of (international) volunteers.
