In October 1987 Peter Pontiac was locked up, with schoolpaint and cardboard, in the apartment above the brand new gallery. A month later a collection of lifesize cardboard figures was finished and a very remarkable exhibition opened. The idea for this exhibition came when Peter Pontiac assisted a friend at a horror festival and was left with one cardboard piece (Auto-da-f'e). For the exhibition he used already existing work that was projected with an episcope (opaque projector), as well as new art that was created on the spot. Cardboard was used because it is light, cheap and "really comix". |
