'Les larmes du sexe'

Galerie Lambiek

Alex Varenne exposition invitation for Lambiek in 1989
The Frenchman Alex Varenne (born 1939) has given us some of the finest images of the world of erotica and he is a singular master of black-and-white expression added with a very personal use of greytones. Varenne's fame came from his erotic work published in Libération, where he created the female character 'Erma Jaguar'.

The artwork exhibited in Galerie Lambiek was a selection from his books; Les larmes du sexe, Erma Jaguar, Carre noir, Warschau, Corps a corps and Erotic opera. He also made some special pastel drawings of nudes for the exhibion.

The exposition invitation was very explicit but included an optional censorship sticker.
