Ceesepe exposition invitation for Lambiek in 1990
Ceesepe was born in 1958 as Carlos Sanchez Perez in Madrid. Since the end of the seventies he published a substantial number of comics and illustrations in several underground magazines in Barcelona, like 'El Vibora'.

This was the second solo exhibition Ceesepe did in Galerie Lambiek within four years. The exhibition included beautiful colored paintings and a series of Caribbean aquarelles. His drawings and paintings are graceful of form and cheerful of color, but the depicted characters don't share these qualities. Usually they stare into emptiness in a world of violence, drugs and idleness.

Ceesepe characterizes society's underbelly in it's painful moments. Elements of Miro and Picasso mixed with the language of the graphic novel are a success formula for Ceesepe who has had exhibitions throughout Europe since 1979.
