Ever Meulen, whose real name is Eddy Vermeulen, was born in Kuurne in February 1946, in the Belgian province of West Flanders, and studied graphic arts in Gent and Brussels.

Vermeulen began an international career making comic stories but mostly illustrations and caricatures for magazines like Humo, Tante Leny Presenteert! and Oor, as well as Modern Papier, Télé-Moustique and Curiosity Magazine. This eventually led to several cover illustrations for Raw magazine and the New Yorker. He has additionally created illustrations for the Veux Faire anthology and for a column called 'TTT', as well as album cover designs, theatre posters and stamps.

Vermeulen has his own esthetical style, in which music, architecture, optical effects, cars and typographical design play an important part.

Since the eighties Meulen has not drawn comics, but mostly illustrations. Nevertheless, he is Flanders best known illustrator and has had exhibitions in New York, Geneva and Brussels.

The exhibition at Galerie Lambiek included many color illustrations that Ever Meulen drew for Humo magazine since 1970.
