Heinz Jankofsky spent most of his life in the DDR (German Democratic Republic), the communist part of Germany. He drew comics such as 'Dagobert, der letzte Ritter' in Berliner Zeitung and 'Die Neue Abenteuer des Burattino' in NBI in 1976. He also drew for Eulenspiegel and Wochenpost. His favorite subject was cats, and he became especially popular for his 'Kater Billi' series, of which five albums appeared since 1996. Heinz Jankofsky died on 2 May, 2002.
