Grégoire Loyau studied at the École Alsacienne, where he had Chinese as a second language. After his studies in 1989, he became fascinated by painting, sculpting, but also comics. He had his first steps in the comics field by assisting Michel Faure on the coloring of some of his series. Loyau moved to the isle of La Réunion in 1991, and he published his first comics in Le Cri du Margouillat, singning with only his first name. He stayed with the magazine until its cancellation in 2002. From 1997 to 2000, Grégoire Loyau worked regularly for publising house Lézéditions du Yéti, designing, illustrating and coloring children's books and roleplaying games. He then joined the publishing house Humanoïdes Associés, where he began his first big comic, 'La Voie du Kung-Fu' in the 'Les 3 Masques' collection. He put some of his biggest passions in this comic series, such as travelling, oriental philosophy and kung-fu.
